Filmmaker Ashley Seering founded Night Owl Productions in 2014 as a creative home for underrepresented stories focused on social issues. She uses film as a way to better understand the people, places, and quiet complexities that shape communities.

Seering earned an MFA in Film and Television Production from Loyola Marymount University and a BA in Mass Communications from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her films have screened internationally at festivals including Slamdance and St. Louis International Film Festival, and she is a six-time regional EMMY nominee.

Originally from Mascoutah, Illinois, Seering is currently based in California, where she is an Assistant Professor of Film Production at San José State University. She previously held teaching positions at Sam Houston State University and Penn State.
